Material and craftsmanship

Fair, responsible production with an appropriate ecological footprint is essential for us. The raw hides for our famous leather come from pastures in southern Germany, sometimes even directly from our home region. We do not support complete stabling, which is why our leather has individual pores and certain irregularities that reflect the free life of the animals
All compagnon leathers are tanned by a small German manufactory according to family tradition, in a purely natural way, without the addition of chemicals for color or texture. The secret lies in craftsmanship and care
the natural tanning process works natural oils and waxes into the pores of the leather. These ensure that the leather provides this compagnon with reliable weather protection. Regular care with 'the beewax' leather care maintains the weatherproof nature year after year
compagnon leather products are made by our skilled seamstresses and craftsmen in our workshop near Krakow.

Exterior features

compagnon fans not only love the amazing look and feel of our leather products, the protection for your equipment is also first class. Our leather is weatherproof, robust, fully lined with shock-absorbing padding and, with a little care, will be your reliable companion for many, many years to come
The compagnon weekender models have a timeless and classic look, modern and functional details are present but well hidden. The main flap can be closed in seconds thanks to magnets embedded in the leather. The flap automatically falls into the correct position and the premium YKK Duo Zipper slides easily and securely into place
the useful front pockets of our compagnon weekender models are protected from all weathers by an integrated leather lip
the generous zipper pocket on the back of this compagnon extends over almost the entire width of the bag, so it not only offers plenty of storage space, but also practical, easy access
The weekender & little weekender also have a trolley holder on the back, so you can easily and securely attach your compagnon to your trolley case when traveling
There are solid metal feet on the base of your weekender, which, in conjunction with the internally reinforced base plate, ensure a secure stand at all times
the detachable wide shoulder strap is backed by a high-strength and extremely durable military nylon fabric and for your maximum comfort there is a detachable leather shoulder pad which you can position as you wish
even the most robust shoulder strap is not safe if the rings, carabiners or eyelets are not of high quality. Our solid metal parts are not only extremely strong, but also offer additional surface protection, durability and a special look thanks to their gunmetal anodization
The zippers are also designed for many years of use and are made by YKK, the premium world market leader for sophisticated fasteners
a compagnon always offers 'passive theft protection', as it is not recognizable as a camera bag but always appears like a normal travel bag

Interior features

with 4 large upholstered dividers and 8 medium-sized dividers, supplemented by 8 Velcro leather straps for fastening, you can adapt the versatile storage space to any type of load
In the interior, we always use a first-class Velcro velour from Germany. This creates an extremely strong bond with all Velcro parts and ensures an incomparably strong hold. In addition, far more detachment is possible than with conventional Velcro materials
the layout of the storage space also allows you to ideally segment just one part for photographic equipment and use the remaining space for luggage

Lenses can be transported upright with a maximum length of approx. 24 cm
camera/lens combinations up to approx. 46 cm in total length can be stowed away in the bag when lying flat
the height of the bag allows the upright transportation of common, fast zooms such as a 70-200mm f/2.8 etc. attached to the camera
This also applies to a wide range of fast fixed focal lengths such as Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4, EF 85mm f/1.2, 135mm f/2, 14mm f/2.8, possibly already attached to the body.

Accessories

A laptop or tablet up to 15 inches in size (from Macbook Pro 2019 also 16") can be stored in the laptop compartment
depending on the size of the camera (equipment), a compact drone kit can also be transported, e.g. with a DJI Mavic
The large, hinged bag opening provides a full overview of the equipment and easy access. This significantly simplifies loading, access and organization

From the outside, the compagnon weekender looks like a casual duffle travel bag that is stylish & never out of place.

Whether you load your weekender with a lot of gear or mainly carry clothes for a short trip, it makes no difference from the outside and inside.

The interior padding can be easily converted or completely removed, depending on your plans. A large camera bag for even bulky systems, created with the finest craftsmanship.

Combining comfortable and useful details for creative everyday life with a traditional design is an art.

Our weekender comes into its own when filled with an extensive camera kit on demanding jobs, weddings or safaris. A "mobile armory", as its owners call it. Whenever great preparation, organization and full overview is crucial.

If you don't want to check-in your camera setup for a flight, the weekender meets common cabin size dimensions. Due to its look it offers passive security as it does not look like a camera bag from the outside.

Naturally tanned compagnon leather from southern Germany is something special. The feel, look and durability are fabulous and just right for leather lovers. The robustness of this material and all its components gives your compagnon a very long life.

All parts that look like solid metal are solid metal. The smooth-running zippers from top manufacturer YKK ensure playful use.

For long-term weather resistance, suppleness and durability, an organic leather care product such as our homemade beewax can be used.
