Our handmade camera bags and backpacks made from our leather are particularly classy. From the outside, they look timeless and classic, but we are constantly optimising and improving all models with great care. The updates to the Heritage Line are often only immediately recognisable to connoisseurs from the outside, but leave a lasting impression on the owner when in use. How does the Gen III leather differ from previous series?

Our Heritage Line models are unique & timeless thanks to their material. For Generation III, we have embarked on a journey to stay even closer to home. What does that mean? The raw hides still come from southern Germany, but we now tan and finish this leather in the Swabian Alb, a stone's throw from our home. We invest the reduced distance in an even more natural, more elaborate tanning process. compagnon Generation III leathers are tanned in the pit in a strictly natural process. No toxic chemicals are required for this, only tanning agents based on leaves and plant components. This tanning process makes the leather supple, robust and of unrivalled quality. Gen III leather has more character when it is new, but develops less patina over time, is more supple to the touch, fits better and is easier to care for. The respective shade is constant in colour and varies only minimally and remains stable during use. However, the tanning process alone takes a long 6 weeks. But the unique result is worth the wait. We're sure you'll agree with us when you hold the Gen III leather in your hands.

Which are the new features & specs of the latest Gen III bags?

It's not just the wonderful material that counts, but also what you do with it. With this in mind, we have once again refined our meticulous handcrafting steps. The result is even greater value for an even longer time. One of the most striking changes to all messenger models is the bags main flap. This is now made of a double layer of leather, which prevents leather particles from getting into the bag and increases protection against external influences. In the new weekenders and little weekenders, the bag lid is lined with Velcro velour so that additional accessories (bags) can be attached at this point. For the first time, the third generation backpacks and little backpacks have fold-out side pockets that offer storage space for tripods or large water bottles on both outer sides, but can also be used flexibly for smaller items.

An overview of the changes according to the Gen III model:

What's changed about the storage capacity & size?

Nothing, actually. Our Heritage Line models have several successful years in the market to their names and have won over many hearts and fans. That's why we kept measurements and storage capacity just about the same. All Heritage Line bags have always been carry-on compliant so you can take them on as your hand luggage. And we had no intention to change anything about that.

Which Gen III model is the perfect fit for your camera kit?

Camera equipment is like a fingerprint. Very diverse and unique. So we're sadly not able to offer a clear yes/no chart for every camera system and lens/accessories combo out there with our models.

With every product you not only find several sample equipments but also fairly accurate internal and external dimensions

This means you can use a ruler/measuring tape to take the dimensions of your camera gear and find out which bag or backpack size is right for you.

But sometimes the proof of the pudding is in the eating. If measuring has not helped you to pinpoint the perfect choice, you always have the option to order one or multiple bags to check and load with your equipment in the convenience of your home. If you need to return your order for another size/model or a refund, this is not a problem if in accordance with our cancellation policy.
