Der Stilpirat erzählt von seinem Logbuch New York...

Most of our readers and compagnon fans probably know by now that we have a very close relationship with style pirate Steffen Böttcher. Our first contact with Steffen was almost three years ago. Back then, Valentin contacted Steffen and asked him if he would like to test a messenger in dark brown. It was a messenger from the very first series. Less than half an hour later, Steffen called Valentin directly and told him on the phone that he would be in Vietnam for the next few weeks. The rest is history and you can read about it here... But today we actually want to talk about the new logbook New York by Stilpiraten. With this book, Steffen has set the bar extremely high for his future projects. The book is completely different from the books Steffen has published so far. In his previous logbooks, Steffen has mainly worked in a documentary style. He simply set off to a distant country that is rather unknown to the masses and spent a few weeks there. He lived with the locals and was very close to the people. He just let himself drift, but also picked up an exciting recommendation here and there and followed it up... The result has always been very interesting and intense books that awaken one thing above all - wanderlust. This is no different with Logbuch New York; wanderlust is created here too, but in a completely different way. We visited Steffen in his pretty Heidestudio a few weeks ago when we were on our way to Hamburg. It's almost a ritual now - whenever we're in the area, we try to spend at least a few hours with Steffen. We then talk about current or upcoming photo projects, philosophize about life in general and then always have a very nice couple of hours. It was clear that we wanted to talk about Steffen's new baby, Logbuch New York, during our last visit. But why not film it at the same time? Because not everyone has had the opportunity to attend one of Steffen's presentations. The result is the interview embedded above, in which Steffen talks very intensively about his way of working and his image style. Of course, one or two nice side stories are also included. You can find the Logbuch New York, as well as Steffen's other books, in his Stilpiraten store or you can buy them locally in our store in Birkenfeld. By the way - last year Valentin spent almost two weeks in Ghana with Steffen and made this movie. Let's see what will come next year...
