compagnon fans not only love the amazing look and feel of our leather products, the protection for your equipment is also first class. Our leather is weatherproof, robust, fully lined with shock-absorbing padding and, with a little care, will be your reliable companion for many, many years to come
The compagnon messengers have a timeless and classic look, modern and functional details are present but well hidden. The closure of the main flap comes from the German extreme sports outfitter Fidlock and ensures automatic, magnetic closing including mechanical latching. The flap can be opened silently and smoothly just by pulling it down slightly
the useful front pocket of our compagnon messenger models is not only protected from all weather conditions by the characteristic main flap, but also from thieves
For added security, there is a hidden zipped compartment behind the large front pocket, which is particularly suitable for valuables and is not immediately obvious even when the flap is open
the generous zipper pocket on the back of this compagnon extends over almost the entire width of the bag, so it not only offers plenty of storage space, but also practical, easy access
The base of your messenger has solid metal feet which, in combination with the internally reinforced base plate, ensure that your bag is always stable. This means your bag will always stand upright instead of falling over
the wide shoulder strap is backed by a high-strength and extremely durable military nylon fabric and for your maximum comfort there is a removable leather shoulder pad which you can position as you wish
The most robust shoulder strap offers no security if the rings or eyelets are not of high quality. Our solid metal parts are not only extremely strong, but also offer additional surface protection, durability and a special look thanks to their gunmetal anodization
The zippers are also designed for many years of use and are made by YKK, the premium world market leader for sophisticated fasteners
A compagnon always offers 'passive theft protection', as it is not recognizable as a camera bag and also has numerous features that make it particularly difficult for thieves

Interior features

with 2 foldable, large padded dividers, through which even smaller optics or similar can be stacked, as well as 3 smaller padded dividers, you can adapt the storage space to any type of transported goods
In the interior, we always use a first-class Velcro velour from Germany. This creates an extremely strong bond with all Velcro parts and ensures an incomparably strong hold. In addition, far more detachment is possible than with conventional Velcro materials
In the front pocket you will find slots for a smartphone and various loops for a pen or stylus. This helps with organized work
Additional padded laptop compartment up to 15-inch device size (Macbook Pro from 2019 also 16-inch) with leather strap fastener

Material and craftsmanship

Fair, responsible production with an appropriate ecological footprint is essential for us. The raw hides for our famous leather come from pastures in southern Germany, sometimes even directly from our home region. We do not support complete stabling, which is why our leather has individual pores and certain irregularities that reflect the free life of the animals
All compagnon leathers are tanned by a small German manufactory according to family tradition, in a purely natural way, without the addition of chemicals for color or texture. The secret lies in craftsmanship and care
the natural tanning process works natural oils and waxes into the pores of the leather. These ensure that the leather provides this compagnon with reliable weather protection. Regular care with 'the beewax' leather care maintains the weatherproof nature year after year

Depending on the number of lenses & housing size, several cameras can of course also be transported

Lenses

Lenses can be transported upright with a maximum length of approx. 27 cm
camera-lens combinations up to approx. 40 cm in total length can also be stowed in the bag when lying flat
the height of the bag allows standard, fast zooms such as a 70-200 f/2.8 to be carried upright directly on the camera
This also applies to a wide range of fast fixed focal lengths such as Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4, EF 85mm f/1.2, 135mm f/2, 14mm f/2.8 etc.

Accessories

A laptop up to 15 inches in size (from Macbook Pro 2019 also 16") can be stored in the laptop compartment
depending on the size of the camera equipment, a compact drone kit can also be transported with a DJI Mavic, for example
The hinged front provides a full overview of the equipment. This makes loading, unloading and organizing much easier
Documents, notebooks, filters, gloves, a tablet or various other items can be stored in the versatile front pockets and the back pocket

With the messenger, nothing but a silently operating main flap stands between your hand and your camera. Depending on the packed gear, even the largest messenger molds around your hip nicely and is great to carry, even zigzagging through the city.

A full-frame camera with a mounted 70-200mm lens even fits standing upright in the bag. Two compact bodies and several fixed lenses fit just as well. The versatile padding keeps everything in the right place.

Regional bull leather

Naturally tanned compagnon leather from southern Germany is something special. The feel, look and durability are fabulous and just right for leather lovers. The robustness of this material and all its components gives your compagnon a very long life.

All parts that look like solid metal are solid metal. The smooth-running zippers from top manufacturer YKK make for easy use. All 3rd generation messengers come with the new main flap, which is also lined with leather on the inside. This means even more protection and always a clean bag inside.

For long-term weather resistance, suppleness and durability, an organic leather care product such as our homemade beewax can be used.
