Even under intense use it is safe to use for adults and children alike. To maintain those organic, natural qualities, we explicitly discourage you from using synthetic, industrial care products. Also we cannot foreclose discolorations or other undesirable side effects when using third-party care products. Thus we're recommending our handmade, organic the beewax leather care do maintain leather substance, durability and water resistance.
Our beewax is easy to use. Simply apply a small amount of wax to the leather using a cotton towel or old rag. We suggest rather using too little than too much wax at once. The leather pores will need a couple of hours to incorporate the leather care. If your bag does not feel dry to the touch after that time, use a clean, dry towel or rag to buff out the remaining wax on the surface. Please refer to our 'How to use' video to watch us go thorugh the process in detail for you.

compagnon the canvas wax is handmade at compagnon in Birkenfeld, Black Forest Germany. Since we developed the canvas wax ourselves, neither the recipe nor the manufacturing process has changed. The purest, natural regional wax, blended over open fire. Never change what’s already perfect. We recommend “the canvas wax” to be used with all products made from compagnon Scotland-canvas because this care product does not contain any artificial, chemical or harmful ingredients. Even under intense use it’s safe to use for adults and children alike. To maintain those organic, natural qualities, we explicitly discourage you from using synthetic care products. Also we cannot foreclose discolorations or other undesirable side effects when using third-party care products. For care of fibre and water resistance, we’re recommending using only our all organic the canvas wax care.
compagnon product versions 2.0 and Gen III are built using modern Hybrid Canvas. This fiber is dirt and water repellent without additional wax application. Waxing this modern canvas yourself will result in a heavier and more traditionally looking fiber, which is going to build patina. The process of waxing is irreversible so please make sure you consider the result before waxing your Hybrid Canvas product.
Applying the canvas wax to your compagnon is very easy. Due to the shape of the canvas wax block and the fabric surface of compagnon canvas, the wax can simply be rubbed onto the fabric. Depending on the pressure used to grind over the fabric you apply a thicker or thinner layer of wax. We recommend sticking to a light application and repeating the process if necessary. Once there is a thin layer of wax on the fabric, use a hairdryer to warm up the wax and the fibre. The wax will slowly melt and be absorbed by the canvas fibre. Stick to a medium heat keeping the hairdryer at a sensible distance to the surface of your compagnon. Allow the fibre and any excess wax to dry off before using your treated compagnon product. If you re-wax your bag regularly or applying more wax than recommended, you will easily notice by touching the bag. You can speed up the drying process with a lint-free, absorbent rag or old towel. Otherwise the excess wax will wear off naturally while using the product. Especially if your compagnon if often used in very hot climate, you can re-wax your bag more frequently. Typically, we're recommending adding some wax after around 12 months. Adding wax to the canvas resets its water resisting abilities and maintains the durability and lifespan of the fabric itself. The Canvas Wax cannot be used on (compagnon) leather products. Our homemade organic leather care product 'beewax' is available for use on leather.
